Why you may want to schedule an online pelvic health session

You might benefit from choosing an online pelvic wellness session if you’re having some concerns but aren’t sure where to start. Any adult who is looking for some answers about pelvic health is welcome to schedule! We mostly work with people who have vaginas. There’s a good chance you may benefit from talking with us during pregnancy and postpartum.

Below are some types of things we can discuss:

  • Painful sex

  • Pubic bone pain, SI joint or tailbone pain, low back or hip pain

  • Urinary leakage, urinary urgency or frequency

  • Pelvic organ prolapse / pelvic heaviness/ feeling like something is falling out

  • Constipation

  • Menstrual discomfort

  • Diastasis recti abdominis (DRA) / abdominal wall muscle separation

  • Pelvic floor muscle / core strengthening

  • Safe Prenatal and postpartum exercise

  • Preparing for Labor & Birth including vaginal, cesarean, VBAC

  • Preparing for your postpartum recovery

  • Recovery from a vaginal or cesarean birth

  • Returning to exercise postpartum or after pelvic surgeries

  • Return to sex postpartum or after pelvic surgeries

  • Cesarean or perineal scar adhesions/restrictions, pain, numbness

If you connect with a concern listed above you may want to schedule an online consult.

Benefits of online consults

Some of the reasons we love online consults:

  • You don’t have to drive anywhere!
  • Talk through a possible plan from the comfort of your home If getting
  • Getting childcare can be difficult
  • We offer times outside a typical day if you’re looking for early mornings, lunch sessions or evening hours

If by now you’re thinking you (or a friend, or your sister, or mother, or grandmother) might benefit from an online consult, continue reading below.

Here’s how to book your first online session:

  1. Click here which will take you to the link to schedule.
  2. Click on “Online Consultation-Initial Evaluation.” This is a 45 minute private consultation via video for pelvic health, pregnancy, and postpartum wellness.
  3. There are also the 3 or 6 package sessions for a discount! You can also wait to make the decision/commitment to the packages until after your first session too.
  4. Click on the time that works best with your schedule. We have convenient daytime and nighttime appointments available.
  5. Once you’ve selected an appointment time you’ll be directed to enter your contact information and a payment card to reserve your appointment.
  6. You are now booked!
  7. You’ll soon receive an email confirmation.
  8. You’ll then be asked to sign a waiver electronically.
  9. You’ll receive a link to the video platform Jane that will be used for your online consultation.
  10. You’re scheduled, now what?

Here’s what to expect:

Before your session
You’ll get an email 30 minutes before your appointment time. Click on the link in that email. Get ready to chat via video with us. Don’t worry, we won’t ask to see your vagina. You can wear whatever you like.

You can chat with us from any room in your house, including a closet. You can chat with us from your car. You can be feeding your baby. You can be moving from room to room. Make this session whatever you need it to be. Totally private time for you or fitting it in where you can.

During your session
We’ll start with a basic introduction.

  • Your therapist will introduce themselves and then ask you the following questions: Tell me a bit about yourself. Where are you calling from? How did you hear about the Vagina Whisperer? What would you like to chat about during this session? What are your goals?

Then we’ll talk more details about what issues you have going on.

  • You’ll get a chance to share your story.

  • You’ll get asked some follow up questions. Depending on what you’re concerned about we may ask you about peeing, pooping, sex, your pregnancy/labor/birth experiences, and what your daily lifestyle looks like.

After that we’ll provide some guidance and support in figuring out what steps you may benefit from taking next. That may include:

  • Possible exercises, approaches, and habits to add or change.

  • Understanding how your “core” and pelvic floor muscles work.

  • Suggesting if a local pelvic physical therapist would be beneficial or if you should consider seeking out other healthcare providers.

After we discuss a game plan, we will talk about where to go from here.

  • If you need some additional support you may benefit from follow up appointments with us in which will can tailor a specific progression for you.

  • You may wish to purchase the 3 or 6 package sessions which offer a detailed program to follow at home after every session, progressions specific to you, and email access to your therapist in between sessions.

  • You may choose to follow through with a local pelvic PT if concerns don’t resolve and/or if you need more hands on evaluation and treatment approaches. You can utilize the PT locators found on this website or ask us to help ask around.

After your session

You’ll get an email from your therapist summarizing the session and outline some homework to work on. You can reach out to your therapist or our clinic if you have any questions while you work through your plan.

Hopefully an online consult with us can help guide you through your concerns and leave you feeling more empowered about your vagina, your body, and where to go from here. Lastly, we strongly encourage you to work on what we discussed and consider meeting back with us in a few weeks for continued guidance.
